On June 30th, 2020 Samsung Electronics., Ltd. debuted its newest flash drive – the 870 QVO SATA SSD. With 8TB of space, it sets a new standard for high-capacity storage, with an uncompromising mix of speed and unrivalled storage capacity.

Traditionally, consumers have had to choose between SSD or HDD drives. SSDs have optimised performance over capacity, with HDDs offering greater capacity but at much slower speeds. The 870 QVO brings the best of both worlds, offering a reliable solution for mainstream PC users.

Providing double the capacity of its predecessor (the 860 QVO, which was released in 2018), this revolutionary SSD gives the consumer both incredible performance and capacity at great value.

Dr Mike Mang, vice president of the Memory Brand Product Biz Team at Samsung Electronics said: “The new 870 QVO will allow more consumers to enjoy the performance benefits of an SSD at HDD-like capacities.”

The 870 QVO has some impressive specifications to back it up, including powerful read and write speeds of up to 560 MB/s and 530 MB/s, boasting Samsung’s intelligent TurboWrite technology, which increases write speeds and maintains long-term performance with a larger variable buffer. This means the 870 QVO is able to deliver faster sequential write speeds – essential for larger file transfers. The 870 QVO also delivers a 13% improvement in random read speed, compared with its predecessor, the 860 QVO.

Ideally suited for everyday computing use, the 870 QVO provides exceptional speeds and capacity, making multitasking, gaming and web browsing a breeze for users. It also comes with a host of improved and added features provided through the renewed Data Migration and Magician 6 software which includes user upgrades and the ability for users to manage and optimise their SSD drive with greater ease.

In addition to its high-class capacity and performance, the 870 QVO comes with an exceptional endurance rating of up to 2,880 terabytes written (TBW), or, a three-year limited warranty. Available in four different models, the 870 QVO comes in 1TB, 2TB, 4TB and 8TB and has a retail price starting at £110.99.
