Canon has announced the release of a new series of lenses created for professional cinema-level productions. The Flex Zoom series is Canon’s first range of premium full-frame, zoom cinema lenses, and will complement Canon’s EF cinema lens lineup.

Both new lenses are built for high-end cinema productions and deliver exceptional optical performance along with workflow efficiency.

Designed to meet the demands of professional filmmaking, the CN-E20-50MM T2.4 L F / FP and CN-E45-135MM T2.4 L F / FP capture cinematic HDR, 4K and 8K quality, from frame centre to frame edge.

These high-end lenses have a number of outstanding key features.

8K Optical Zoom

The Flex Zoom showcases advanced optical technology that allows for 8K capture across the entire zoom range. With 8K compatible chromatic aberration, the lenses reduce colour bleeding, whilst a light-shielding design with optimized coating eliminates ghosting or flaring.

Constant T2.4 Stop Value

Both Flex Zoom lenses offer fast and consistent T2.4 light transmission whatever zoom range is being used, along with the most popular focal lengths used in filmmaking and cinema production.

11-Blade Iris Aperture

Designed for use with full-frame or Super 35mm cameras, the Flex Zoom lenses possess 11 iris blades, ensuring beautiful, natural, and cinematic bokeh.

Consistent Colour Balance

As part of the Canon family, the Flex Zoom lenses share the same colour tones as Canon’s full range of Cinema lenses, ensuring consistent colour balance when used with other Canon lenses, and reducing the time spent on post-production grading.

Industry Standard Metadata Support

When it comes to metadata formats, a lens-to-camera mount communication function makes the Flex Zoom versatile and compatible with industry standards, including Cooke /i Technologyâ„¢, ZEISS eXtended Dataâ„¢ (on PL mount) and Canon metadata (via EF mount).
